Learn Medical Spanish in Sucre Bolivia as you Intern or Volunteer at a local
hospital

The
Spanish medical service program is a language learning program, and
practical internship or volunteering designed for all medical
professionals. It gives Doctors and medical students the opportunity to
learn Spanish while concurrently learning about Bolivia's country's medical
system. Students are exposed to different cultural practices and traditions
and have the opportunity to establish relationships with other Bolivian
Medical professionals who have the same shared goal of healing and serving
those in the community.
The program is offered in Sucre. Often referred to as the 'white
city', it is a stunning historic city of about 300,000 in Bolivia. The
program will place you in a variety of health settings and also includes
discussions/lectures to give you an overall picture of the medical practice
in Bolivia. The nature of your interning/volunteering depends on your
experience. Medical students will be on were able to help in basic
medical procedures witness surgeries and births, draw blood and suture, give
shots, reading films, take histories, and witness and help with physical
exams all in Spanish. Qualified Doctors nurses can become involved volunteer
and become fully involved in the hospital.
The program includes Spanish classes (with emphasis on medical terminology),
lodging with local families, full board, cultural activities and excursions
to immerse you in the culture. We are sure what you learn by participating
in our program in Sucre will be extremely beneficial to medial practice in
years to come
Registration:
One off fee of $20
Program price: Please inquire with specifics relating to you
experience, possible duration and desired areas of specialisation, and we
will design the program for you and provide pricing. Pricing is normal in
the area of $300 per week including 20 hours of Spanish,
accommodation with your host family, 2
meals (breakfast and lunch), laundry service, airport transfer upon arrival,
and weekly activities with the school. Mail service, money exchange, safety
box, luggage storage, and use of facilities are also included.
Accommodation option:
Host family: Stay with an Bolivian family and be received as a member of the household. With the home-stay the student can expect: Participation in the family life with the opportunity to consistently practice the Spanish that is learned in class. A Private room inside the house of the family. Meals: breakfast, and dinner. This is included in the course price
