Learn Medical Spanish in Manta as you Intern or Volunteer at a hospital OR at a Paediatric Clinic

This program is open to all  healthcare professionals. As well as learning Medical Spanish there are two Volunteering/ interning options.

1.“RENEUP”. This is a Paediatric Neurological Rehabilitation Centre dedicated to the prevention and alleviation of infantile development disorders as well as neurological cognitive and sensory disorders. It is run by volunteers and treats mainly poor children. It is preferred for the benefit of the children that volunteers stay for a minimum of 4 weeks (but any length is accepted)
You will learn one on one medical Spanish in the morning and in the afternoon volunteer/intern at “RENEUP” .

The clinic is basic, and deals on an ongoing basis with about 40 children suffering from a large variety of development disorders.

RENEUP is characterized by the honesty of its administration. We hope that this center will continue to grow with the help of charitable individuals and public, national, and international organizations. 

Your help is extremely valuable to RENEUP, and also both appreciated and needed.  The clinic seeks help especially from those with the following skills.

ˇ         Physical Therapy (necessary Spanish level: basic)

ˇ         Speech Therapy (necessary Spanish level: basic)

ˇ         Occupational Therapy (necessary Spanish level: basic)

ˇ         Infant Psychology (necessary Spanish level: intermediate)

ˇ         Special Education (necessary Spanish level: intermediate)

ˇ         Pediatric Neurology (necessary Spanish level: basic/intermediate)

ˇ         Infant Trauma (necessary Spanish level: basic/intermediate)

ˇ         Social Work (necessary Spanish level: basic/intermediate)

Registration: One off fee of $20

Volunteering/Internship at the Clinic: No cost.

Medical Spanish: 20 hours Private one on one specialising in Medical Spanish: $140 per week (decreasing for longer term volunteers - please inquire stating your length of stay)

Accommodation options:

Host family: Stay with an Ecuadorian family and be received  as a member of the household. With the home-stay the student can expect: Participation in the family life with the opportunity to consistently practice the Spanish that is learned in class. A Private room inside the house of the family. All meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Laundry: minimum once per week. $112 per week

Student's apartment: The school has a fully furnished shared apartment (with hot water, TV cable, internet etc.). You have your own room.  Meals or laundry service are not included. $70 per week

Hotel: There is a large variety of Hotels (from one to five star) located in Manta. Please inquire

2. Learn Medical Spanish at a Local Hospital

This includes half day Spanish lessons and half day observational rotations for students and professionals in the medical field. 3 to 6 week Spanish Course focused particularly on medical vocabulary.
During the last week of classes, the students participate in periodic rotations in a private clinic or at the hospital "Rodríguez Zambrano" in Manta accompanied by a medical resident.
Price: $ 900 for 3 weeks (include Spanish instruction and lodging with a host family)
